Butcher Block 1/17 & 1/18

Winter is here and for many of us that means making chili.  To make chili you gotta chop meat (and vegetables) and there is nothing worse that chopping things on a flimsy cutting board that is just one step up from a piece of cardboard.  You don't need to be a woodworker or a meat eater for this one but it is a very hands-on class and we do recommend building your chili around a good cut of meat.  During this two day workshop we will mill American Cherry & Black Walnut lumber, glue-up panels, cut and reconfigure them into seriously substantial end-grain chopping blocks.  The finished blocks will be quite stout, measuring in at approximately 2.75" thick (3" with feet)  x 14.25" deep x 19"- 20" wide. Your chopping block will be 100% food safe and finished with a renewable natural oil, comparable to a John Boos butcher block only better...handmade by you!  

Class is limited to 4 and prior woodworking experience is not necessary.

We will provide:  All materials, rubber feet if you want them and safety equipment
